CONTINUING ED
Dentists who are members of the AGD can set themselves apart professionally by engaging in high-quality, multidisciplinary continuing education courses leading to various levels of recognition status such as Fellowship Award (FAGD), Mastership Award (MAGD), Lifelong Learning and Service Award (LLSR), etc. CE presentations that “count” towards these awards must be sponsored by the AGD PACE (Program Approval for Continuing Education) program or the ADA CERP (Continuing Education Recognition Program). The Fellowship Award is one of the most common within the AGD.
Award Requirements (HIDDEN)
The basic requirements for this status are:
- Current AGD membership for three continuous years by December 31 of the year in which the application is received, to begin no earlier than the month of dental school graduation.
- A dental license has not been suspended or revoked within the last five years and is not currently under probation, suspension, or revocation.
- Passing the Fellowship Exam.
- 500 hours of approved CE.
- Attendance at an AGD convocation ceremony, held during an AGD annual meeting, to receive the award (successful candidates are allowed three years following approval to complete this requirement).
Currently, the South Carolina AGD constituent does not host its own FellowTrack or MasterTrack CE programs. States with FellowTrack programs help you satisfy the requirements for obtaining the Fellowship Award by offering AGD PACE-approved continuing education courses on a regular basis. As a member of SC AGD, you can participate in eligible CE programs in other states and credit will apply towards a Fellowship Award.
The following states offer a FellowTrack program: Alabama, California, District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia. If interested in pursuing an FAGD, please visit the constituent state’s website and contact their Continuing Education board member.
